‘Spranger’ killed at South Quay

AN unidentified man described as a “spranger” was killed in an accident on Friday night at South Quay, Port-of- Spain. According to reports, around 9.45pm, the five-foot, eight inches tall man was knocked down while crossing the road way from south to north. He was rushed to the Port-of-Spain General Hospital where he was pronounced dead on arrival.


Investigations revealed that the man who was known as a regular, washing cars along Broadway opposite Kentucky Fried Chicken, had minutes before completed washing a car for money and was rushing back to wash another car when he was knocked down. The dead man had no form of identification on him and although a regular at the car wash, his associates were not familiar with his real name or address, only his alias — Garvin..


Further investigations revealed that the driver told the police the unidentified man just ran across in front of him when he came into contact with the vehicle. Besson Street officers are continuing investigations.
