NCIC: Lara made us proud
THE NATIONAL Council of Indian Culture (NCIC) has joined in congratulating captain Brian Lara for his “herculean effort in breaking the world cricketing record twice and being the first to reach 400 runs in Test cricket.” NCIC president Deokinanan Sharma said: “His feat is nothing less than amazing and removes all doubt as to who is currently the world’s greatest batsman. His record will not be easily attainable and we feel certain that Lara’s record will remain in the books for a long time to come.
“Lara has made us all feel proud of being West Indian and especially Trinbagonian. We support the call that in honour of this monumental record the former proposed racing complex at Caroni should be immediately converted into a national sporting institute catering for the training of our youth in all sporting disciplines. The location is ideal and is easily reachable from any part of the country. Needless to say the facility should be named after Brian Charles Lara.”
