Five held as items recovered

AN EARLY morning exercise, carried out by the San Raphael Police in the Arena District yesterday, resulted in the arrest of five persons and the recovery of  a spray can and two water-pumps valued $13,000. According to reports, around 6 am on Wednesday, Sahadeo Soogrim of La Horquetta left his two water pumps and a spray can  at his garden, located at Esperanza Road, San Raphael. When he returned at 1 pm he discovered that the spray can and water pumps were missing.

Soogrim made a report to the San Raphael Police Station. Based on information received, a team of officers headed by Cpl Gomez and including Acting Cpl Black, PCs Joseph, Gentile, Ferreira and WPC Carrington executed a search warrant at a home in Arena, where they recovered the stolen items. Five persons were arrested and taken to the Arena Police Station, where they were charged by WPC Carrington with larceny of the water-pumps and spray can. They are to appear before an Arima magistrate to answer the charges.
