Teen, woman held with arms, ammo

A TEENAGER and a 28-year-old woman are expected to appear before a Port-of-Spain magistrate today charged with illegal possession of arms and ammunition, after they were arrested on Saturday by officers from the the Inter-Agency Task Force. According to reports, Besson Street police officers and the counterparts from the Inter-Agency Task Force including ASP Alfred Sealey, Ag Insp Alleyne, WP Sergeant McKay, Cpl Rowley, PC Snaggs and PC Edwards  were on exercise in the East Dry River area.

During searches at several houses, the officers found and seized a Venezuelan-made 12-gauge shotgun, a Sig Saur nine-millimetre psemi-automatic pistol, eight rounds of ammunition and stolen electronic items and sneakers. During a search of the house in which the arms and ammunition were found, the officers arrested an 18-year-old youth and the woman, who were both charged with illegal possession of the weapons. The two were charged by WP Sgt McKay.
