Tesheira laid to rest
Despite the heavy rainfall in Port-of-Spain yesterday, many people turned out to pay their last respects to Russell Tesheira, CLICO’s vice president of sales and agencies administration, at a funeral service held at the Trinity Cathedral. Tesheira succumbed to complications last Tuesday at the San Fernando General Hospital, shortly after undergoing surgery. In 1970, he became a part of the CLICO group and, for 31 years, was manager of various departments including Underwriting, Policy Owner Service and Group Health and Life. He was also a national footballer and a member of the Sforzata Steel Orchestra for over 25 years.
Delivering the homily at the service was Dean Knolly Clarke, who praised Tesheira’s achievements. “Russell was a talented and gifted individual and he used these qualities to facilitate many people in their moral and spiritual development,” he said, “and in order for any businessman or woman to be successful, they must possess the leadership skills that Russell displayed,” he added. Karen Tesheira, Russell Tesheira’s wife, could not hold back her tears as she delivered his eulogy.
“Russell’s vibrancy and spirit glowed in the hearts of those at the steel orchestra who called him captain and brother and within the many relationships he forged with those in the football fraternity of TT,” she said. “He was a loving husband and a wonderful father to his three children, Nicola, Christopher and Coryse,” she added. “Today, the sun that is Russell has set in this world, but will continue to shine in our hearts. He has truly given the very best to his life.” Also present at the funeral were Minister of Trade and Industry Ken Valley, Senator Wade Mark, members of the Sforzata Steel Orchestra, members of the TT Football Federation, and a cross-section of businessmen, including Lawrence Duprey, CLICO’s executive chairman. Tesheira was laid to rest at the Lapeyrouse Cemetery.
