BMX bandit held with loot

A 23-year-old man who allegedly robbed a Malabar pharmacy yesterday and escaped on a BMX bike was captured with part of the loot by Malabar police. A warrant has been issued for the arrest of his partner. According to information around 2.30 pm Wednesday two men rode up on separate BMX bikes to Dayz Pharmacy on Cocorite Road, Arima, entered the store and announced a hold-up.


They rode off with an undisclosed amount of cash. An hour and a half later a team of officers including constables Gangadeen, Mahabir and Samaroo intercepted one of the suspects from Sunset Avenue, Malabar Gardens riding his bike with some of the cash. He was placed on several identification parades and is expected to appear before an Arima magistrate today. A warrant for a 22-year-old man of Trainline Avenue, Malabar suspected to be his associate, has been issued.
