Schoolboy among 33 held in raids
A 15-year-old schoolboy was among 33 persons arrested in a police exercise which began at 2 am in Central Division and ended around midday yesterday. The student was arrested on a warrant for breaking into a bar at the back of the Chaguanas Magis-trates’ Court. During the same exercise, officers executed a search warrant at a Longdenville house and seized a stolen car.
Three others were held for possession of narcotics while 13 were arrested on outstanding warrants. Fifteen persons wanted for robberies and shootings were also held in the exercise. A sniffer dog from the Police Canine Unit was used to assist officers in the raids and several drug dens were raided. The exercise was led by Inspector Burt Raphael and Sgts Lumy, Sylvester, Ag Sgts Ajith Persad and Danny Ramlogan. Those arrested will appear be-fore a Chaguanas magistrate on Monday.
