3 in court for Tableland murder

FOUR days after Tableland gardener Harilal Persad was stabbed to death, three men appeared in the San Fernando Magistrates’ Court charged with his murder. Tableland residents Ian Ramnarine, 25, a grocery attendant and dry goods salesman Riaz Mohammed, 27, and Keiran Khan, 23, a labourer of Bachan Trace, St Mary’s, Moruga, appeared before acting deputy Chief Magistrate Mark Wellington in the First Court.

The three were charged yesterday by Cpl Jagroo of the Tableland Police Station after receiving instructions from Assistant Director of Public Prosecutions Roger Gaspard. A fourth suspect was released after it was deemed there was insufficient evidence to prosecute him. The magistrate remanded the men in custody and transferred the matter to the Princes Town Magistrates’ Court for tomorrow.
