Body remains unidentified

UP TO late yesterday, no one had come forward to identify the body of a man who was found on the sea coast near Calmapas Village in Guayaguayare, on Tuesday. The corpse is at the Forensic Science Centre, Federation Park, St James, where an autopsy will be performed when the body is identified. Police could not determine whether the body bore marks of violence, since it was possible that the body could have been damaged in the sea.

The deceased, a man of African descent in his 20s, was clad in a black three-quarter pants. Police said he is five feet-nine inches tall and dark in complexion. Anyone who may be able to identify the man is asked to contact Mayaro Police Station at 630-4333. Sgt Rampersad is continuing investigations. Meanwhile, the autopsy results on the body of an epileptic man who was found floating in the Guaracara River on Tuesday evening revealed that death was caused by asphyxia due to drowning. As a result, police have ruled out foul play in Sheldon Rishi Ragbir’s death.
