PM Manning: Moms examples of unconditional love

Prime Minister Patrick Manning, in his message on the occasion of Mother’s Day today, has described a mother’s love as one of the most powerful representation’s of God’s unconditional and limitless love for mankind. In a statement, Manning said there are times when only a mother’s love can soothe disappointments and calm fears. “Indeed, no matter how old we are, each of us needs a mother or a mother figure to share our joy, to give us the faith and confidence for greater achievements and to guide us along life’s journey,” he said.

Manning added: “To all of our nation’s women who have played the invaluable role of ‘mother’, I wish God’s richest blessings on Mother’s Day.” In another Mother’s Day message, the Mayor of Chaguanas, Dr Surujrattan Rambachan, also described mothers as the best examples of unconditional love. Dr Rambachan said that mothers make the extraordinary, look ordinary, the impossible very possible, and are storehouses of a rare wisdom and maturity.

“Mothers Day is not a day to ease our consciences but it is a day that challenges our capacity for the genuine expression of gratitude towards the one person who, when the world has rejected you, like the earth, she embraces you with warmth and affection,” he said. Dr Rambachan urged mothers to see their children as gifts from God, given to them for a very special purpose and to be careful of the language of communication they use when speaking to children. He suggested that mothers use a language of love not hate, of peace not conflict, of harmony not division, in order for the child to grow up to practise the best quality of interpersonal communications when they become an adult.
