Car thief caught fixing stolen vehicle
SHORTLY after receiving a report of a car stolen from Alexandra Street in Tacarigua, Arouca police caught one of the men fixing a flat tyre at Johnny Street, Dinsley village, Tacarigua. According to reports, around 8.10 pm yesterday police received a report of a stolen vehicle. one hour and 20 minutes later, while on patrol, they spotted four men with the stolen vehicle fixing the flat tyre. On seeing the police car, three men ran away and a Point Fortin man, 18, was held. Police also recovered a 9mm pistol and 10 rounds of 9mm ammunition.
A B14 car that was stolen on Saturday from Dharaj street in Tacarigua, was also recovered. The B14 was used when the other vehicle was stolen. Visiting the scene were constables Ramsumair, Taylor, John and Transcoso of the E-999 unit and constables Gyans and O’brien of the Arouca CID. Constable O’Brien charged the man for possession of the firearm, while Gyans charged him with stealing the cars. The man will appear before an Arima magistrate today.
