TSTT man laid to rest
TELECOMMUNICATION Services of Trinidad and Tobago technician Ellsworth Sawyer was laid to rest yesterday with much sorrow and celebration. In one voice, pastor Michael McKenna of the Open Bible Church at Pashley Street, Laventille told a packed congregation that the service was a celebration of Sawyer’s life. He warned people that they should take note from Sawyer, an exemplar whom the pastor had spoken to less than 24 hours before his death.
He said that Sawyer’s life showed that one must always be prepared because you do not know when you could die. Relatives of Sawyer, however, continued crying, screaming and collapsing saying they believed “he died too soon.” His brother and sister Eric and Karen Sawyer, who gave the eulogy, also described the father of five as a tower of strength. Randolph Farfan, his TSTT supervisor, also spoke in glowing terms of Sawyer, who he said was a leader who was able to pull the workers together to get them to work positively. Sawyer, 42, of Febeau Village at Laventille Road in San Juan, died on Sunday night when the car in which he was travelling crashed into a car heading south of the Guaymare River, Caroni.
