eTecK sponsors Brazil Secondary School

Students, from forms one to five, received commendation for their achievements in the areas of academics, arts, sports and international student representation. e TecK, as a proud sponsor of the Brazil Secondary School’s trip to the GLOBE Learning Expedition (G.L.E) in New Delhi India, sponsored Fifteen Thousand Dollars ($15,000.00) towards the school’s expedition trip.

Global Learning and Observations to Benefit the Environment (GLOBE), is an international educational programme that promotes environmental science amongst students, teachers and the scientific research community. The Brazil Secondary School has a track record for the past eight years of being ranked as the number one GLOBE participating school in Trinidad and Tobago. This ranking system is based upon the recorded number of consistent uploads, on environmental data to GLOBE’s website, by students from various schools. Dwight Ashton, Precious St Clair, Randy Sookoo and Zephan Pathron, made their school proud by being the only school to represent T T at this year’s G.L.E.

ETecK’s philanthropy areas include providing “support to community groups and schools promoting environmental awareness programmes”, making the Brazil Secondary School a valid candidate for the company’s support.

The four students, accompanied by their teacher Tricia Ramseepaul and safety officer Michael Slater, displayed their scientific research in the week long science expedition from August 4 to 8 2014. The team proved themselves to be ambassadors who represented T&T’s cultural heritage through their Trinidad and Tobago information booth and talent showcase. A rendition of the National Anthem was performed by Mathematics enthusiast, St Clair, on our national instrument, while Pathron, whose passion is Physics, gave the audience a flavourful taste of Calypso with his performance of the Baron’s renowned “Sweet Soca Man”.

When interviewed about their trip, the Brazil four made it quite clear that their New Delhi trip was a life changing, learning experience. Sookoo, who wants to pursue a career in Petroleum Engineering, expressed that the trip has opened his desire to travel to other countries. Ashton who desires a career in Sound Engineering or Entertainment, described the GLOBE club as a great eye opening experience and wishes that other students from his school will be encouraged to be a part of the club.

E TecK wishes Dwight, Precious, Randy, Zephan and all the students of the Brazil Secondary School all the best in their future endeavours and encourage them to continue reaching for the stars.
