ILP PRO: Anna was UNC operative

In a release issued yesterday, Singh said Deonarine-Rampersad’s claims that she left the ILP because of the motives of its political leader, Jack Warner are untrue.

She made those claims at a UNC meeting in St Helena on Friday last.

Singh said there was evidence in the public domain, including newspaper reports that she left the ILP when Lyndira Oudit was appointed political leader, in June 2014.

“For Deonarine-Rampersad to come one year later and say that she left the ILP because Mr Warner is revealing the revolting scandals of the UNC, and its leader therefore could never be true, more so when one considers that it was only on May 28, 2015 that ILP Political Leader Jack Warner declared that ‘the gloves are off,’ Singh said.

He said her appearance on the UNC platform and her utterances were “well-orchestrated and planned”.

Singh said Deonarine-Rampersad may have forgotten the brutal attack on her and her parents by former Attorney General. Anand Ramlogan, and others in the UNC.

Ramlogan had claimed that her Range Rover, bought from an agent in England and valued at about $500,000, was a stolen vehicle. The Range Rover had in fact been stolen from a company called Lombard Vehicle Management where the vehicle was on contract hire on May 15, 2008 by a person who had stopped paying for it, and who it was eventually determined, had used false details to hire the vehicle.

Ramlogan had also claimed she had benefitted from the sale of 20 acres of land her parents purchased from a relative of Dole Chadee, Thackoor Boodram, - they had bought the land for $225,000, got a valuation report which valued the property at $11 million, and sold it to CLICO for $13 million.

“She may have easily forgotten how she was sent hate mail, called a disgrace to Indian women for supporting the ILP, and how the UNC circulated distasteful comics about her. But the ILP will always remember how the UNC tormented her,” Singh said. He also addressed Deonarine-Rampersad’s claims that she was misled regarding the CONCACAF issues describing it as “laughable” as in May 2013, she read the contents of three legal opinions obtained from Retired Justice of Appeal Zainool Hosein, Andrew Mitchell SC and Bertram Commissiong QC on the CONCACAF issue.

“If Mrs Deonarine-Rampersad chooses to support misbehaviour, corruption and indecent conduct by the UNC, if she believes that such misconduct should be kept in the dark, and if she now wishes to hug up the people who terrorised her, her parents and her children and to find herself at home with them, that is her choice. Those values are diametrically opposed to what the ILP stands for, and the ILP is glad that Mrs Deonarine-Rampersad has made her position and her ethics public,” Singh said.
