Reid, Thomas for music workshops

Shaheem Reid reigned as hip hop editor of MTV News for a decade and currently brings his special brand of interviewing to Jay Z’s Life+Times.

Datwon Thomas is executive editor at Vibe magazine and former editor at King magazine, XXL magazine and Sean Combs’ Hookt.com.

Together they will bring a fresh, sound guidance for hip hop and other musicians.

“I’m super excited to be a part of AMMBCON,” said Thomas. “The industry is hungry for Caribbean talent and we know we can help artistes learn what is necessary to break through internationally.” Also added to AMMBCON’s facilitator line-up is digital media management master Aaron Davis.

Davis will advise music professionals on how to use their YouTube accounts to grow their business, and how to get attribution for the use of their music across all platforms.

Outside of the workshops, musicians at AMMBCON will get immediate feedback on their music at the conference.

“AMMBCON is more than just talk,” said ASK Promotions/ AMMBCON CEO Stephen Howard.

“We have listening panels with people who actually book musicians for events, we have hands-on production training, we have one-onementoring sessions with industry experts, and we have three days of showcases. This is no ‘we-talk-andyou- just-listen’ event.

AMMBCON means business and we get real action for artistes.” Hosted from August 19-21, AMMBCON 2015 is the fourth edition of the Caribbean’s #1 music business conference and will be at University of Trinidad and Tobago’s North Port-of-Spain Campus at NAPA.
