Trio charged for arms, ammo, ganja
THREE men who were allegedly found in a Moruga forest with a Venezuelan-made shotgun, a quantity of ammunition and marijuana, were yesterday granted a total of $150,000 bail by a Princes Town magistrate before whom they appeared. Anthony Lorent, 29, and Robert Layne, 26, both of Princes Town, are jointly charged with possession of a 16-gauge shotgun and two cartridges.
They were arrested at a make-shift camp in Canary Forest, Moruga, by police during a crime eradication exercise Sunday morning. Harvey Ragbir, 24, who was also held in the forest, faced a separate charge of possession of 30 grammes of marijuana. The three men were charged by Cpl Chapdeo. The three pleaded not guilty before Magistrate Jai Narine yesterday and were placed on $50,000 bail each. They will reappear in court next Monday.
