New Vatican diplomat for TT

POPE JOHN PAUL II has appointed a new Apostolic Nuncio to six Caribbean nations, including Trinidad and Tobago. He is Msgr Thomas E Gullickson, 54, who is originally from South Dakota in the United States. The appointment was announced in an October 1 letter to the president of the Antilles Episcopal Conference, Archbishop Lawrence A Burke. Archbishop-designate Gullickson, who has been in the Vatican’s diplomatic service since 1985, currently serves at the Vatican nunciature in Germany. He was ordained to priesthood in 1976, has a degree in canon law and has served in diplomatic missions in Rwanda, Austria, Czechoslovakia, Jerusalem, Palestine and Germany.
