Two die in crash
TWO persons — Tricia Ali and Roshard Joseph — lost their lives when the vehicle in which they were travelling crashed into a culvert along the west-bound lane of the Churchill Roosevelt Highway near Maloney, around 6.30 pm yesterday. The car, a grey Nissan Sentra, which was driven by Ali’s husband Jameel, was proceeding west when the driver lost control and crashed into the culvert. On impact, the vehicle split in three pieces, police said, with the front landing on the side of the highway while the engine fell into a nearby river and the rear of the car remaining near the culvert. Both Ali and Joseph died on the spot while Jameel was taken to Arima District Hospital where he was up to last night warded in critical condition. The trio were returning from a beach lime when the accident occurred. DMO Dr Bissessar viewed the bodies and ordered them removed from the scene. ASP Badal, Insp Thomas, PC Madeira and investigating officer Cpl Earl Charles visited the scene.
