Security guards charged with receiving stolen paint
Three Property Protectors Security Ltd security officers yesterday appeared before a Tunapuna magistrate charged with receiving stolen paint and building materials, while another man has been charged with stealing the items. The guards, Rawle Sieunarine, 39, Glen Maharaj, 22, and Tyrone Rojas, 43, along with Peter Joseph, 43, all of Bamboo Settlement in Valsayn, pleaded not guilty before Tunapuna magistrate Joanne Connors at the Tunapuna Magistrates’ Court, and were placed on $2,000 bail each. According to reports, attorney-at-law Krishna Lall Doodnath reported that he secured his Valsayn South home and retired to bed on Tuesday night.
He said he awoke next morning to find the paint and building materials valued at $6,000 missing. A report was made to the St Joseph Police Station and members of the Criminal Investigation Department under acting Insp Modeste went to the security firm and to houses in Bamboo Village, where the paint was recovered. Property Protectors provides security and mobile patrol for residents of Valsayn and other areas across the country. Also visiting the scene were Sgt Daniel, Cpl Hobbs and WPC Yearwood. PC Avion Yearwood laid the charges. The matters were adjourned to November 25.
