Dinner and dance for late PNM Minister

In commemoration of the tenth anniversary of the death of the late Morris Marshall, former PNM Minister, The Morris Marshall Foundation will host a grand dinner and dance on Saturday, October 23 at Pier 1, Chaguaramas at 8 pm. According to the Foundation’s Administrator, May Inniss, the event will focus on the work done in Marshall’s name and the legacy he established. A special feature of the event will be a video presentation on his life and work.

The Morris Marshall Foundation, formerly known as the Laventille West Foundation, was founded by Marshall. Over the years the foundation has been engaged in numerous community projects such as the training facility programme, which equips young males between the ages 14 and 17 in occupational and life-coping skills. Computer literacy classes are also offered for both the young and old. Courses in food preparation and garment construction are being offered at the institution. The foundation is also a venue for the non-traditional skills training programme for women, facilitated by the Ministry of Community Development, Culture and Gender Affairs.

The foundation is installed with a reference library with Internet access. “This is to provide an environment conducive to study since we realise that many children in the area do not have such an atmosphere in their homes,” Inniss said. In the past, the foundation has provided financial assistance to university students of the East Port-of-Spain area. In September, Farai Masaisai was successful in attaining funds to pursue studies in England. The foundation thanks all who contributed in this venture and invites the corporate community to assist in its fund-raiser. Tickets for the dinner and dance are $200. Dress code is formal wear.
