Mom cries for baby on floor
“She was my everything. Why he had to kill her,” cried Lorna “Muffet” Skeet, mother of Baby Precious at the funeral service for her daughter, who died in a fire at her King’s Wharf, San Fernando home, last Wednesday. At the brief service yesterday at Belgroves Funeral Home, Skeet had to be supported by her husband Winston Burnett after she threw herself on the ground and cried for her baby. Their friend, Patricia Burkett, who offered a simple prayer, said: “Regardless of what people are saying Muffet did what she did for the betterment of her family. Sometimes the circumstances for each and everyone are different,” she added.
She said there were rumours circulating but the “one who sits high and low” knew what transpired that day. Burkett said she believed this tragedy would make the family grow stronger and she pleaded with the parents to take their two other children and find another place to live. “There is nothing good there. People will smile and laugh with you and cut you.” Police are yet to determine whether the fire was an act of arson or if it was accidentally set by a candle.
