‘God was with me’

“GOD was with me throughout that horrific ordeal on Monday night,” hijacked taxi driver, Jairam Raghoo, said yesterday. As three of the four youths who chopped him were being laid to rest yesterday in Felicity, Chaguanas, Raghoo said he has been having nightmares about the carjacking ordeal. Raghoo was hijacked on Monday night by Dennis Roopchand, 20, Kevin Singh, 16, Ravi Budhu, 15, and Prem Narad, 15, of Felicity in Chaguanas. Police shot all four dead in a shootout at Freeport Junction. Raghoo lives in the same Felicity village and knows the youths and their families. He was listening to the nightly Ramayan Yagna Monday night on his car radio while working taxi that fateful night. “Everytime I lie down to rest and close my eyes, it’s like I’m seeing a replay of the incident,” Raghoo told Newsday. He said after the youths hijacked him, they chopped him on the chest, fingers and arms at the Cremation Site in Waterloo, where they took him and a female passenger.
