Carmona welcomes new South Africa High Commissioner to TT

She was speaking yesterday at the Office of the President, St Ann’s after presenting her credentials to President Anthony Carmona.

Ngwevela said this country and others in Caricom, have a very special status within the African Union as “the other Republic of Africa”.

“We really look forward to working with Trinidad to build trade relations. I would like to see on South African shelves, products that are made in the Caribbean.

I would like to see products here that say ‘made in Africa’ and that’s what we do as diplomats to ensure that our countries can trade together.

People to people relations can be strengthened where people in the Caribbean can visit South Africa and I intend to bring as many people from South Africa to visit your country,” she said.
