Rahael hails CDAP
MINISTER of Health, John Rahael assured citizens yesterday that once they have a prescription in the name of the Chronic Diseases Assistance Programme (CDAP), they can access any health centre or hospital in Trinidad and Tobago for medication. And if the health centres or hospitals do not have the necessary drugs, affected citizens can access any of more than 200 pharmacies in the country. Rahael was speaking at a programme mounted by the Diabetes Association of Trinidad and Tobago (DATT), PAHO and TSTT at City Hall in Port-of-Spain. He described CDAP as one of the best programmes ever mounted in the health sector of Trinidad and Tobago.
“It is the best run programme as well,” added Rahael. He said CDAP was put in place, to help lighten the financial strain of patients having to treat the effects of chronic diseases “This is an initiative that provides medicine free of charge to chronic disease sufferers of all ages. “If you are unaware of this government-funded project, speak to a pharmacist or your doctor about obtaining free medication,” said Rahael. From November, CDAP will be open to all age groups.
