Former principal of Naps — Beulah Meghu is dead

Beulah Barbara Meghu, a former principal of Naparima Girls’ High School and a member of the Teaching Service Commission (TSC), died on Sunday at Southern Medical Centre in San Fernando. She was 77. Meghu spent 33 years at Naparima Girls’ High School, 20 of them as principal. In 1986, she was appointed a member of the TSC, a position she held until her death. Meghu’s nephew, Gregory Hill, described her as “extremely well respected throughout TT. She was known for being very firm and supportive. She was very dedicated to teaching.”

Former principal of St Augustine Girls’ High School, Anna Mahase, said Meghu devoted her life to education. “She was a very outstanding principal of Naparima for many, many years. She was a unique person.” Meghu leaves to mourn her sisters Carolyn Hill, Cisley Mykoo, Vilo Dube, Jacqueline Mahabir, Roslin Sankarali and Hazel Organ Meghu.
