Infolink celebrates 10 years
Infolink Services Limited, home of central hub of the LINX Network, was formed ten years ago to switch debit transactions between Bank of Commerce, First Citizens Bank, RBTT Bank, Republic Bank and Scotiabank. In September 1995 the LINX ABM-sharing system service was launched and in November of 1996 the LINX Debit/POS system service enabled merchants to accept transactions from all cardholders from these financial institutions. Since then, 43 million transactions have since taken place and the LINX network presently operates 99.94 percent availability. On July 1, 2004 InfoLink successfully launched Trinidad and Tobago TransUnion, Trinidad and Tobago’s first Automated Credit Bureau.
At a breakfast meeting to celebrate the company’s achievements, InfoLink’s General Manager, Robert Boopsingh, spoke about the company’s successful performance over the last ten years. Lyndon Guiseppi, executive member of the Bankers Association of Trinidad and Tobago painted a broad view of possible developments for the financial industry in the future. InfoLink also honoured its first General Manager, Derwin Howell, as well as the visionary leaders who sat on the first Board of Directors. These original directors were Garvin Akeung, whose present position is general manager Corporate Operations, Service and Process Improvement, Republic Bank Limited, Larry Howai, Chief Executive Officer, FCB, Hamish Smith director Corporate Resources RBTT Bank Limited, Ronald Harford, chairman and managing director Republic Bank Limited and Ian de Silva, Scotiabank Trinidad and Tobago Limited.
