Diego teachers honoured
SEVERAL teachers from schools which fall under the Diego Martin Catholic Education Board were yesterday honoured for their dedication and service to the profession. The achievement day awards function was held at the St John’s RC Church on Church Street, Diego Martin. It was hosted by the Board and the Parish of Diego Martin. In her address to the teachers and students, Sharon Carrington, diagnostic specialist, reminded them that the role of teachers was a crucial one, in which they guided the hearts, minds and souls of the students.
She said the hallmark of teachers was their compassion, demonstrated by their continued sense of caring towards their students, whom they nurtured at every stage. She said teachers were the ones who prepared the children for the challenges of life, which required a certain amount of trust. Carrington also saluted teachers for their selflessness and advised students that there was no limit to what could be achieved. Teachers from the St John’s Girls RC, Diego Martin Boys RC, Christ Child Convale-scent Home and Corpus Christi College, received certificates for their years of service, ranging from three years to 30 years.
