Two shot
TWO residents of West Trinidad are nursing gunshot wounds at the Port-of-Spain General Hospital they sustained over the weekend in separate incidents. Kia Sherman, 21, a vendor, was shot several times while asleep at a friend’s Persad Street, Lucien Road home in Diego Martin on Saturday morning. And on Sunday night, Nigel Nicolaus, 34, a Telecommunication Services of Trinidad and Tobago employee, was also shot several times about his body at his Unity Road Extension home at Richplain, Diego Martin. According to reports, Sherman of Diamond Vale Gardens, was asleep in an open area outside of his friend’s house around 4.55 am, when he opened his eyes and saw a man with a gun. A struggle ensued and several shots were fired, hitting Sherman about the body.
The bleeding man rushed into the friend’s house, and with their assistance he was taken to the PoSGH. Police believe Sherman was shot over a girl whom he had become friendly with, which angered a certain gang member. In the second instance, Nicolaus was asleep at his home with his girlfriend around 11.40 pm on Sunday, when he heard a loud male voice call out to him. As he approached his bedroom door, the door swung open and two masked men stood outside with guns. The men pointed the guns at Nicolaus and his girlfriend. Nicolaus grabbed one of the guns, a struggle ensued and several shots rang out. The TSTT man was hit about the body. The gunmen then ran off. The injured man was then rushed to the PoSGH where he is still warded. Both men are listed in stable condition.
