Five years for robbery
Raymond entered a pleaded guilty yesterday before San Fernando magistrate, Natalie Diop, in the Fourth Court. Cpl Crawford of the Mon Repos Police Station charged him with robbery with violence being armed with a firearm.
The court heard that in May last year, Raymond and another gunman entered an auto repair shop at La Romaine and announced a robbery.
They tied up the owner and an employee with tie straps. The gunmen robbed them of a quantity of equipment and tools together valued $54,000, $600 cash and the businessman’s Toyota Hilux valued $140,000.
Nicholas and his accomplice fled the scene in the Hilux and a report was lodged at the San Fernando Police Station.
Sgt Ramroop together with Cpl Crawford and other officers conducted investigations and arrested Raymond.
None of the stolen items were recovered.
Yesterday, Raymond was unrepresented by an attorney and apologised for his actions.
The magistrate sentenced him to serve five years in prison with hard labour. Cpl Kerry Morales prosecuted.
