Police arrest nine in PoS
According to police, around 3.30 am on Friday, three men entered the guard booth at Cabin Electronics and tied up security guards Kerrone O’Reagan, 33, and Shakile Jack, 19. The men, who were armed with a pick axe and a firearm, then proceeded to rob the guards of cash and cell phones.
However, a passer-by noticed the incident and made a report to the POS CID who quickly responded, preventing the men from breaking into the store.
Two of the robbers escaped and one was arrested.
ASP Ajith Persad organised and led the exercise which was carried out by Corp Anthony Williams, Corp Kennedy , WPC Hamlet, and other officers of the POS CID Task Force.
The exercise led to the arrest of a man who police believed was another bandit, a 25-yearold man from Rock City, Laventille. He is expected to be placed on ID Parade today.
Also arrested during the exercise was a 34-year-old man from John John. He was searched at the John John Basketball court and police allegedly found him to be in possession of a .45 pistol and six rounds of ammunition.
One Dundonald Street, POS, man was arrested on the Brian Lara Promenade for possession of cocaine, and a Mt D’Or man was arrested for possession of two kilogrammes of marijuana.
The other persons were expected to be placed in ID parades as part of investigation into recent various robberies in the POS area.
