TT bag 12 gold at table-tennis contest

In their final four matches, the red, white and black produced golden showings in the Girls Under-11, Boys Under-13, Girls Under-13 and held on to silver in the Boys Under-11 Singles.

Having previously captured nine gold out of 10 Team and Doubles events last week, TT carried their winning momentum into the Individual divisions.

In the Girls Under-11 Singles final, Priyanka Khellawan trumped Jamaican Davidson Woodsley 3-1 (5-11, 11-7, 11-7, 11-8). And in the Boys Under-13 title match, Derone Douglas emerged 11-8, 12-10, 11-3 victor over Guyanese Isaiah Layne while Shreya Maharaj added TT’s final gold to the overall tally by whipping Nevaeh Clarkston 3-0 (11-5, 12-10, 11-7). National athlete, Jalen Kerr missed out on the top prize, but settled for silver, as he went down to Keysan Minvalle (Guyana) 11-8, 8-11, 11-7, 9-11, 11-7 in the Boys Under-11 trophy match.

Prior to these mesmerising finishes, TT copped gold in the Boys and Girls Under-11 and Under-13 Team Events, Mixed Doubles (Under-11 and Un- der-13), Boys and Girls Doubles (Under-13) and Boys Doubles (Under-11).

The national contingent was expected to return home last night.
