Love your own, mayor tells youth

He was responding to a question Friday about what message he wanted to send to young people as the country gets ready to celebrate 54 years of independence on Wednesday.

“We need to love our own. We need to have more pride in our country, our nation.

Also from personal experience, it seems a lot of young people in TT don’t know their history; from whence they came. This plays a major part in where we head and I really would like our young people to get more acquainted with the history of our great republic,” the mayor said.

He added, “I think this will go a long way in understanding (our present) and how we treat with one another.

So my message is simply: love your own. Let us try and understand more about our rich culture and history as we celebrate 54 years of independence.” Valentine was speaking with the media following the PoS Corporation’s monthly statutory meeting at City Hall.
