Colombia riders victorious at Junior Pan Am Cycling

Colombian cyclists dominated the event grabbing the top two spots with Wilmar Molina Rico winning gold with 33 points and Juan Guerrero Arias claiming silver with 30 points. Rounding off the top three was Venezuelan Luis Colmenares who copped bronze with 29 points. Cole got four points with his ninth place finish, while Orosco ended with two points.

Colombia continued solid form in the men’s 1kilometre (km) time trial as Kevin Quintero Chavarro earned the country a gold medal in one minute, 05.042 seconds.

His countryman Juan Esteban Arenas Gonzalez earned silver in 1:05.857 and Mexican Francisco Contreras was third in 1:07.506.

There was also no stopping Colombia in the women’s individual pursuit as Yesi Tatiana Duenas Gomez won the event. Cinthia Teresita Covarrubias Rocha of Mexico earned silver, while Yesica Toro Zuluaga of Colombia claimed bronze. Action continued yesterday and concludes today.
