MISS TT THIRD IN WORLD

MISS Trinidad and Tobago to Miss World, Kenisha Thom, placed third in the prestigious Beach Beauty Final segment of the contest held yesterday in Sanya, China. The contest was said to be hotly contested. It was won by Miss USA who has automatically qualified for the Miss World title during the live show on December 4. Placing second was Miss Australia.

The finalists in the contest were Miss Ecuador, Miss Dominican Republic, Miss Philippines, Miss Trinidad and Tobago, Miss Australia, Miss Mexico, Miss Brazil, Miss Paraguay, Miss USA and Miss Bolivia, who all paraded in swimsuits designed by Miss World 1975 Wilnelia Forsyth in sweltering heat on a white sandy beach. The swimsuits were a fusion of European style and Caribbean colours, which is symbolic of Forsyth’s Puerto Rican background.

Following the announcement of the results, Miss USA said, “I am so excited I am just stunned. I work on my body and try to maintain a good physique so this is fantastic. There are so many kinds of beauty and physical appearance here, to win this award is such an honour. The best part though is now I am in the final of Miss World, that means my mother can watch me at home. I am going to represent my country in the best way possible in the final.” The beachwear final marks the start of the public vote and shows that  the competition for Miss World 2004 is truly underway.
