Teen murder suspect among 15 held in raids
A 17-year-old Laventille teenager wanted for questioning into a recent murder, was among 15 persons arrested in an exercise which started on Sunday night and ended yesterday. Police also recovered a sawed-off shotgun, three cartridges and a quantity of marijuana at the home of the suspect. Around 2 am, officers led by Inspector Sahadeo Singh, along with officers of the Inter Agency Task Force and the Port-of-Spain CID, executed search warrants at several homes in Port-of-Spain.
The arrested teen is a suspect in the murder of Junior Flemming who was shot dead while standing outside his Laventille home on July 26, earlier this year. He was handed over to homicide officers and up until late yesterday was being quizzed in connection with the shooting death. Other homes were searched and others wanted in connection with robberies and other offences were also arrested. The exercise was coordinated by Snr Supts Leon Anthony and Errol Denoon. Those arrested will appear before a Port-of-Spain mag-istrate today. The exercise formed part of the ongoing anti-crime initiative.
