Hosein appeared before Senior Magistrate Nanette Ford-John who remanded him into custody until next Tuesday when she will determine his sentence. Kissoon recalled how Hosein, 45, came into their home in Mungal Trace, Woodland on September 28 in a drunken state and began to quarrel with her. Hosein was arrested on Tuesday and charged with maliciously wounding Kissoon.
He also planassed (beat with flat side of a cutlass) her. Yesterday, Hosein pleaded guilty.
Hosein and Kissoon have six children between the ages of six and 15. Kissoon sat on a bench next to female police officers, with three of her fingers in bandage at the court yesterday. She held a paper file in her hand which contained a medical report of the injuries. Court prosecutor Phillip Ramnath told the magistrate that it was at about 11 pm on September 28 when Hosein entered his home. There was an argument and he took up a cutlass and chopped Kissoon. He also proceeded to planass.
The woman sought treatment at San Fernando General Hospital.
on Tuesday, PC Mohess of San Fernando CID, collected a medical report from the hospital and arrested Hosein. Asked to explain his actions, Hosein told the court, “I’m sorry, I have six children and I doh know what get in me. I came home drunk that night. I really sorry.” Magistrate Forde-John told Hosein that he had two previous convictions for marijuana and she seek a Probation Officer’s report, before she determines the sentence. She remanded Hosein into custody to reappear next week Tuesday.
Speaking to Newsday after she stepped out of the courthouse, Kissoon said, “Whatever is just and right, the magistrate would decide next week Tuesday.”
