Guard in court for wounding woman
Mark Samerson of Hirondelle Street, Morvant, appeared before Magistrate Aden Stroude in the Port-of-Spain Fifth Court, charged with wounding the mother of his two-year-old child, Ria Kalicharan, by allegedly stabbing her twice in the back and once on her hand on Monday last at the NP Quik Shoppe at Morvant Junction. Kalicharan is still hospitalised, Stroude was informed when Samerson appeared in court yesterday.
Samerson’s attorney Alexia Romero applied for bail, indicating that her client had no criminal record and was a family man who contributed to his community. She also expressed concern that since being charged, Samerson has been receiving death threats.
Police prosecutor Sgt Andrews did not object to bail and Samerson is expected to return to court on October 24.
