Rain hampers second day at Subway Tennis

The tournament, which began on Friday afternoon, will continue today from 9 am weather permitting. Yesterday in the girls Under-14 round robin category Abiana Mata Brewer, Shauna Valentine and Kaela Frank all won their matches in straight sets. Brewer eased past Chelsea Riley-Moodoo 4-0, 4-0, Valentine got past Janay Sealy 4-0, 4-2 and Frank outlasted Lauren Carrington 5-3, 4-0.

Also recording straight set victories in the category were Nicoette Orr and Keesa Lee Young. Orr defeated Kryshelle Cudjoe 4-2, 4-1 while Lee Young got past Charlotte Merry 4-1, 4-2. In a competitive contest Chelsea Mukerji came from one set down to defeat Emily Lawrence 2-4, 4-1, 10-8.

In the boys U-14 round robin, favourites Alijah Leslie and Ebolum Nwokolo both showed their class. Leslie was a 4-2, 4-0 winner over Prerce McKenzie, while Nwokolo eased past Vashist Kelly 4-0, 4-0. In other boys U-14 matches Levi Hinkson got the better of Sebastian Sylvester 5-3, 4-0, Nathan Valdez defeated Jaydon Singh 4-1, 4-1 and Charles Devaux beat Alex-Jaden Durand 4-0, 4-2.

In other matches completed yesterday Beckham Sylvester got past Ryan Conyers 4-0, 4-0 (boys U-12), Nathen Martin defeated Yeshowah Smith 6-1 (boys U-10), Jace Quashie outlasted Jayden Mitchell 6-2 (boys U-10) and Jaden Rampersad had a walkover win over Tristan Ramsaroop in the boys U-12 category
