Classes suspended indefinitely
Since the incident there have been no classes at the school.
Parents of students were told that classes would have resumed yesterday, but with the decision taken by teachers it remains unclear when the over 800 students would return to school.
Sources revealed that in the interim teachers may accommodate the form 5 students who will be writing CSEC next year.
Newsday understands that Doodai was told in no uncertain terms that teachers were concerned about the air quality in the aftermath of the fire and coupled with that they were concerned about the lack of proper wash room facilities.
Doodai promised to address the situation when he meets with officials of the Ministry of Education on Thursday.
Newsday understands that the fire-ravaged section of the school has not yet been cleaned and smoke continues to pervade the air at the school’s compound.
Parents of students attending the school yesterday called Minister of Education Anthony Garcia to make an intervention to have the school cleaned up so that classes could be resumed.
Police probing the arson attack told Newsday yesterday that arrests are imminent.
It is believed that a student who is part of a gang may be responsible for the fire.
