Man in court for robbing taxi driver

Modesto appeared before Senior Magistrate Nanette Forde- John who read to him a charge that on Wednesday last, he allegedly robbed at gunpoint, Nevelle Brown, at about 10.30 am.

The charge stemmed from an allegation, that Brown was plying his taxi for hire in Vistabella, San Fernando, when he was confronted by a passenger at gunpoint. He was relieved of his car.

Police Constable Sharaz Mohammed of the Marabella CID investigated and arrested and charged Modesto for the offence of robbery with aggravation.

Magistrate Forde-John asked the court police prosecutor if the Tiida vehicle valued $67,000, was recovered and after consulting with PC Mohammed, he said that it was not.

She granted bail to Modesto in the sum of $50,000 to be approved by a Clerk of the Peace, but refused a cash deposit alternative. The case was postponed to November 24.
