Hazel: Values linked to being a productive citizen

“Do you live your lives by those values ? I put it to you that because you have the support of teachers, mentors and parents who also guide you with additional values to do very well, that you have the responsibility to be productive and with integrity and respect, to take care of the underprivileged in our country,” Manning said.

Manning, wife of the late former Prime Minister Patrick Manning, made the remarks yesterday while delivering the feature address at Presentation College’s annual Prize Day function held at Carib Street, San Fernando.

Manning told the gathering that for over 30 years, she lived in a home with three ‘Presmen’ namely her late husband and their two sons- Brian and David.

Thus, the vision and values of Presentation College became an integral part of their lives.

The school’s Mission Statement is: “ To form well-rounded and balanced youth with God as the center of their lives to inculcate practical awareness of their underprivileged brothers and sisters.” Manning referred to the school’s history as “fascinating” adding that it is a story worthy of living and worthy to pass on to the people of Trinidad and Tobago and to the rest of the world “Just as Patrick did”.

On July 2, the former leader of the People’s National Movement, passed away at the San Fernando General Hospital at the age of 69.

Ths school’s Mission Statement is: “To form well rounded and balanced youth with God as the centre of their lives to inculcate practical awareness of their underprivileged brothers and sisters.” With a smile, Manning said: Over 60 years later, this Mission Statement still guides the school today. Patrick and my two sons, Brian and David, lived that Mission and my sons are still living with the purpose buried deep in their hearts.”
