Police detain Santa Rosa in Premiership
In a Match Day 20 clash at the Marvin Lee Stadium in Macoya, Police registered a 2-1 win over the league leaders and, in the process, moved up two places to third.
Keron Clarke got things going for the lawmen in the 34th minute but Santa Rosa responded, courtesy of an own goal, in the 66th. However, Police got the winner seven minutes from full-time, through Kareem Perry in the 83rd.
Defence Force stayed in second spot after a similar 2-1 result over 1976 FC Phoenix, at the Canaan Recreation Ground.
The evergreen Dominique Kerr found the back of the net for Phoenix, in the 43rd, but the Army-Coast Guard combination replied with strikes from Josimar Belgrave (50th) and Ronald St Louis (79th).
Table proppers Marabella Family Crisis registered only their fourth win of the season when they blanked Siparia Spurs 4-2 at Irwin Park in Siparia. Juma Clarence scored a pair for Marabella, in the 25th and 64th minutes, while Kerville Jeremiah (15th) and Kurlan Khan (31st) netted one each. Finding the back of the net for Siparia Spurs were Marvin Seuradge (37th) and Marcus Kelly (80th).
In a high-scoring affair at the Palo Seco Velodrome, Petrotrin Palo Seco and Real Maracas FC fought to a 4-4 draw. Tigana Sparks (19th and 32nd) scored a double for Palo Seco, with Xavier Seales (63rd) and Bevon Bass (86th) chipping in with one apiece.
Kheelon Mitchell (54th and 80th) notched a pair for Maracas, with Marvin Manswell (21st) and Ricardo Bennett (82nd) getting the others.
There was another game where the points were shared, with Bethel United and Queen’s Park featuring in a 2-2 draw.
Bethel were rewarded with goals from Dwane Marcelle (49th) and Kevon Woodley (70th) while Kevaughn John (53rd and 81st) struck twice for the Parkites.
At the New Lands Ground in Guayaguayare, Guaya United and Club Sando Moruga battled to a 1-1 tie. Jody Allsop’s 67th minute equaliser proved vital for Guaya, after Nigel John put Club Sando ahead in the fifth.
In the day’s other fixture, Matura Re- United and WASA played to a goalless stalemate at the Arima Velodrome.
