Pleasantville man on gun, arms charges

Yesterday, a 23-yearold man from Pleasantville, San Fernando, appeared before a magistrate charged with possession of a United States-made semi-automatic gun and five rounds of .40 calibre ammunition.

Christon Linsay, of Orchid Gardens, was arrested on Friday night by detectives from the San Fernando CID.

Yesterday, Magistrate Bramanand Dubay read the charge to the young man that he had in his possession a Springfield Armory XD semi-automatic pistol. He also had five rounds of .40 ammunition.

The charges were laid by Police Constable Kevin Crawford of the San Fernando CID and Lindsay pleaded not guilty.

His attorney Cedric Neptune made a plea for bail to be granted.

Prior to August 31, the Bail Amendment Act (2015) restricted a magistrate from granting bail for 120 days, to any person over the age of 18 charged with possession of a gun, or, committing a crime with the use of a firearm.

Neptune said Lindsay was relatively young and lived with his mother in Pleasantville.

His previous convictions had been for marijuana.

The black pistol and ammunition were presented to the magistrate who examined and noted its make and serial numbers. He granted bail to Lindsay in the sum of $140,000 and ordered the accused man to report to the Mon Repos Police Station every Friday.
