North-West Trinidad rained out
AREAS in North-West Trinidad were hardest hit by yesterday’s torrential rains, which caused flooding and minor landslides in some areas. Officers at the Trinidad and Tobago Meterological Services said San Juan, Barataria, St Joseph, St Augustine, Aranjuez and parts of Port-of-Spain suffered the most from the rains. They said reports were received about flash flooding and some rivers overflowing in some areas. However there were no such reports in Tobago or South Trinidad and there may have been some flooding in the coastal fringes of Central Trinidad. They said there was nothing unusual about yesterday’s weather or its spin-off effects. They added that the Met Office will continue to monitor the situation and issue necessary bulletins to the public.
