Green Screen film awardees

The two new local short films were part of the festival’s Films for a Better Place workshop and grant project. This year the festival’s Films for a Better Place film workshop and grant programme supported five documentary shorts which were shown throughout the festival. The festival which has shown local and international movies on environmental and sustainability issues ran from November 1 - 12.

The awardees were announced at the San Fernando Hill last Saturday.

The San Fernando Hill event, which also marked the opening of Bocas Lit Fest’s South Festival, awarded cash prizes, each worth $5,000. The Trouble with Plastic by Maya Cross-Lovelace won the Guardian of the Environment Award, sponsored by Guardian Media Ltd.

Quiet Revolution by Rhonda Chan Soo and Edward Inglefield won the Films for a Better Place Jury Award, sponsored by Sagicor General.

Green Screen is a production of Sustain T&T, a not-for-profit organisation dedicated to highlighting issues of conservation, alternative energy, climate change, social justice and sustainable development.

The Green Screen Film Festival 2016 was presented with the support of The German Embassy of Port-of-Spain.
