Body found in pirogue floating off Carera Island Prison
THE body of a Cocorite man was found in a pirogue floating four miles off the Carera Island Prison yesterday morning. According to reports around 6.30 am Lieutenant Alfred of the TT Coast Guard was on patrol around the island when he observed a 28 foot-long pirogue floating in the sea outside the island prison. On investigating he found the body of an East Indian male lying face down in the boat.
The body which was later identified as that of Ian Williams, 43, of Harding Place, Cocorite was towed to Staubles Bay where it was ordered removed to the Forensic Science Centre by DMO Dr Tumpak for autopsy today. Information revealed that Williams left home on Sunday morning around 5 am shortly before the inclement weather began. Visiting the scene were ASP Cadette, Inspector Lezama, WPC Campbell and PC Nelson. PC Nelson is continuing enquiries.
