Teens charged for taxi-driver’s murder

THREE teenagers appeared before a Couva Magistrate yesterday charged with the weekend murder of 22-year-old Samraj Ramkumar. Hassam Hosein, 18, Ryan Ramoutar, 17, and a 15-year-old boy Prem Badri, who are all from Branch Road, Iere Village, Princes Town, appeared before Mag-istrate Joan O’Connor. Magistrate O’Connor remanded Hosein and Ramoutar, who were represented by attorney Selwyn Ramlal, to Remand Yard in Port-of-Spain, while the third accused who was represented by George Ojar, was sent to the Youth Training Centre (YTC) in Golden Grove, Arouca. The matter was adjourned to December 10. Ramkumar, a taxi-driver, of Garth Road, Princes Town was found lying face down in a drain about 300 feet behind a house at Calcutta No 1, Freeport, last Friday night. Sgt Lumy of Couva CID spearheaded investigations and laid the charge against the three teenagers.
