LIFEGUARDS STILL ON STRIKE
There are no guarantees that lifeguards will be working this weekend, as a meeting held yesterday between the lifeguards and the Chief Personnel Officer (CPO) failed to resolved anything. According to the sub steward lifeguard branch of the NUGFW, Curtis Hernandez, the CPO was unable to come to a settlement, as they still needed to analyse the different job descriptions and the cost for such work.
“It does not seem likely that anything would change because they are the ones who are doing up the proposals, which they hope we would have no choice but to accept at the end,” said Hernandez. Hernandez said he was uncertain whether the protests would continue, but believed that lifeguards would be staying away from the beaches on weekends. A meeting between the sub steward and lifeguards is expected to take place today to discuss further matters.
