Christlyn: Marijuana for THA votes
This according to Political Leader of the Tobago Forwards, Christlyn Moore. At a press conference held yesterday at the party’s headquarters in Scarborough, Tobago, Moore accused other contesting political parties of fraudulence and misconduct.
She stated, “In Moriah, marijuana is being offered to others in an alarming quantity.
That can only suggest sponsorship on an industrial scale.
We say to Tobagonians that we are alive to the efforts being made to steal this election and we say that we will not stand for it.” The former Minister of Legal Affairs under the People Partnership explained, “we will not pay for a vote we certainly will not engage in an illegality or any immorality or any impropriety to get a vote.
Anybody who is offering you weed to vote is not fit to lead; anybody who is paying you to vote is not fit to lead.
Anybody who is engaged in illegality to get your vote will engage in other illegality too when they are elected.
So we sound the warning to the Tobago population to be vigilant.” Moore said other incentives are being handed out with the intention to induce voters, “we are aware that in the Mary’s Hill district in particular that (another party) has been giving out food cards and cash. We want to remind you that this has happened before. We encourage people to take photos of the money wrapped up in jerseys and to audio tape the persons who are making these offers.” Moore said she has been reliably informed that the ruling People’s National Movement (PNM) is planning to mobilise supporters from Trinidad to go to Tobago to vote. She also accused the PNM of tampering with the Inter-island Ferry schedule.
“This is the reason why the sailing of the boats on election day has been moved from 6.30 am to 9am from Trinidad. This will allow persons who have been chosen and have been given tickets to be able to make the sailing to be picked up and bussed to the stations.
We are encouraging Tobagonians to take pictures of these people who are coming here to steal an election from the Tobagonians who reside here.”
