Seecharan, George lash hundreds in SSCL wins

Hillview crushed Barrackpore West by 183 runs, while Fatima eased past Trinity College East by 167 runs.

Batting first in a 48- over contest at the Barrackpore West Secondary Ground, Hillview racked up a massive 278 for four. National youth player Sachin Seecharan cracked 107 with six fours and five sixes, while Jonathan Hosein missed out on a century ending on an unbeaten 92. Bowling for Barrackpore West, Aidan Nanan snatched 2/58.

In reply, Barrackpore West were dismissed for 95 in 28 overs with Seecharan grabbing 3/24 in five overs with his off break. National youth player Nathaniel McDavid (2/17), Daniel Lewis (2/5) and Jean-Phillippe Barry (2/20) all took two wickets to help contain the Barrackpore batsmen.

At Honeymoon Park in El Dorado, Fatima posted 239/7 batting first with left-handed Wendell George slamming 104. George, who struck 12 fours and two sixes, was ably supported by Jean- Paul Rocke (34) and Andel Nicholas (27).

Raheem Portelle and Aziz Mohammed both ended with figures of 2/30.

Trinity could only muster 72/9 in 20.1 overs in reply. One of the Trinity batsmen could not complete his innings due to a knee injury. Kyle John top scored with 21 for Trinity East, but Rocke (4/25) and George (2/9) ensured the win for Fatima.

Spin bowlers Isaiah Gomez and Emilo Gopaul both took six wickets to lead Shiva Boys and Presentation College, Chaguanas to victories respectively.

Gomez took 6/20 in 9.5 overs to guide Shiva Boys to a nine-wicket victory over Carapichaima East.

Gopaul grabbed 6/21 in 7.3 overs to help Presentation to a one wicket win over Naparima.
